We have not received official notification but we expect that schools will be required to operate revised timings during Ramadan. This would mean Ramadan times will start on the first day of next term, Sunday 7th September. Please note especially the later finish on Thursdays.
Sunday to Wednesday - 8.30am – 2pm, Thursday 8.30am – 1.15pm.
No staff should be on the school premises before 8am and after 2pm during the Holy Month of Ramadan, so we are unable to open the school gates for children until 8.00am. We would ask that you do not bring your child to school before 8.00am as he/she will be unable to gain access to the school premises and no staff will be present to supervise him/her.
Reception children will work Sunday to Wednesday from 8.30am to 12.30pm and Thursday 8.30 to 1.00pm during Ramadan.

Welcome to the website of the Dubai English Speaking School where you can find a range of information about our school including the curriculum, extra curricula provision, facilities and ethos.
D.E.S.S. was the first British school in The United Arab Emirates, established in 1963 by Shaikh Rashid the then ruler of the Dubai. We are a not-for profit school administered by a Board of Governors and as such there is generous reinvestment in the school on both a long term and short term basis. This has ensured that the facilities in the school are excellent. As the longest established school in the country, we enjoy an excellent reputation which we continually strive to ensure that we deserve.
Academic success is important but we believe in the development of creative thinkers, problem solvers and children who know how to learn in an environment of mutual respect, enthusiasm and commitment. The children are given a wide range of opportunities to have as many experiences as possible in order that the whole child is developed. We believe in success for all not just academically but in the many other areas of a child's development. Our extra curricula provision which includes sports and performing arts is comprehensive.
