Organisation

Each year group from Reception to Year 6 is divided into five mixed ability classes. The maximum class size is approximately 23 children although, on occasions, this may increase to 25. Children enter school at the age of four and leave after their eleventh birthday.

The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England. An eclectic approach is used when teaching the children and, in consequence, this will vary from class teaching, group work and individual tuition depending on what is being taught and the age/ability of the children. Specialist teaching is included in the timetable for:

ICT

Music

PE, Swimming and Dance

Library

French

Arabic

The department for Language and Mathematical Development (LMD) gives additional help to those children requiring an individual education programme.

Each class teacher is responsible for every child in the class though all teachers accept responsibility for the children's well being during their time in School. Year Co-ordinators oversee all aspects of School life in their particular year group.
