Attendance: Children should be in school by 7:55 a.m. and no earlier than 7.45 a.m. Children must be met promptly when classes end at 2.30p.m., for KS1 and KS 2 and 2:15 p.m. for the Reception department. On Thursdays all children must be collected at 12:45 p.m. promptly.Regular attendance is expected. Prior approval for unavoidable absence, lateness or early withdrawal, must be obtained by letter from the Headteacher.
The School Nurse should be notified when a child is ill and unable to attend school. In the case of illness, the school must be notified and the child must bring a certificate of clearance on return to school.
Discipline: A high standard of behaviour and good manners is expected at all times.
Hairstyles: 'Extreme' hairstyles for boys or girls are not permitted as is the use of hair gel
Jewellery: Girls with pierced ears will only be permitted to wear studs - any other jewellery is not permitted. The school cannot accept responsibility for injuries caused by wearing jewellery.Homework: Each year group sends out specific instructions regarding homework.
School Uniform: This is compulsory. All items should be clearly marked with the child's name as the school cannot accept responsibility for their loss. Click here for more information about school uniforms.
Equipment: Each year group is issued with a list of requirements which will include, pencils, rubbers, coloured pencils, etc. Each child is required to have a suitable bag to carry their personal equipment, library book and homework. School bags bearing the school logo can be obtained from Magrudy's, the school uniform supplier.
Pets/Animals: Pets/Animals are not allowed in school unless prior permission is sought from the Headteacher.
Fees: Payment may be made in cash or by cheque made payable to the Dubai English Speaking School and must be paid by the end of the previous term. So, for the term commencing on 7th September 2008, for example, you will receive invoices before 26th May for settlement by 26th June when the summer term ends.
If after a reminder, the fees are still outstanding, the child will be excluded from school at the discretion of the Board of Governors.
If a child is absent from school for a substantial period the fees must be paid if the place is to be kept available. Fees for a half term are refunded ONLY if a child leaves on or before half term.
